Quarantine Free Travel - New Zealand
From 16 May 2022, travellers can apply online for visitor visa. Travellers will still need to meet border entry requirements , including completing a New Zealand Traveller Declaration and being fully vaccinated.
New Zealand borders are closed to most travellers. People who are eligible to enter New Zealand from Vanuatu are:
- New Zealand citizens or residents
- Australian citizens and permanent residents;
- people who have a border exception, or
- people who are exempt from the border restrictions

Requirements for Travelling into New Zealand:
Proof of Vaccination
A vaccine card or vaccine certificate can be accepted if it includes the following:
- Name
- Date of vaccination(s)
- Name/Band/Type of vaccination received
- The name of the Government organistaion that administered the vaccination or issued the proof of vaccination.
Travellers who are aged 17 years or over, and you are not a New Zealand citizen, resident, or an Australian citizen who lives in New zealand- you must be vaccinated with an approved vaccine to enter New Zealand.
Date of Birth is only required for PCR certificates it is NOT required for proof of vaccination.
Exemptions
Travellers who do not need to be vaccinated for self-isolation are:
- unvaccinated children aged 16 years and under if they are travelling alone or with parents or guardians who meet the vaccination requirements for self isolation.
Everyone else must be fully vaccinated.

These travellers will be able to enter New Zealand through MIQ. They cannot self-isolate on arrival.

Pre-departure Test
- Pre-departure test IS NOT needed for entry into New Zealand under one-way quarantine free travel. It may be needed for onward travel.
Travellers not eligible to enter New Zealand are able to transit through Auckland to another country. Normally you must spend less than 24 hours in transit in New Zealand. If your transit time is longer than 24 hours you must apply for an exemption from Immigration New Zealand.

New Zealand Traveller Declaration
All travellers including New Zealand citizens and permanent resident visa holders are required to complete and submit a New Zealand traveller declaration and receive approval to travel before they can board their flight.
The New Zealand Traveller Declaration is an online system that collects a travellers travel and COVID-19 health-related information.
Travellers must submit their declaration before they arrive at the Bauerfield Port Vila International airport. Once travellers have booked their flight they can start their declaration up to 28 days prior to their flight. The declaration is free and may take around 30 minutes to complete.
To complete the traveller declaration, travellers will need to provide:
- Passport details
- Flight information
- Proof of vaccination (if required)
- Travel history for 14 days prior to arriving in New Zealand
- Contact details in New Zealand
- Emergency contact details
- Proof of pre-departure test-unless exempt (Not applicable to travellers from Vanuatu. However transit travellers may require a test for their final destination.)
If the travellers, New Zealand Traveller Declaration meets requirements, they will be issued a Traveller Pass that will contain a QR code, which will be unique to the traveller and valid only for the journey they completed the declaration for. The Traveller Pass can be printed out, or uploaded to a mobile device.
Travellers will be asked to show their Traveller Pass to an Air Vanuatu staff at check-in and when they arrive in New Zealand.

Travellers can ask someone to complete the form on their behalf, for example a friend, family member or travel agent if they have issues completing the NZ Traveller Declaration.
Travellers should still carry all the relevant paperwork with them that they have uploaded to the New Zealand Declaration- such as COVID-19 vaccination certificate and all other travel requirements
